Village Remembers Ken Brady

Kenneth C. Brady Jr., 80, of Port Jefferson, NY, passed away on October 24, 2023. Born in Woodhaven, NY, Ken was a dear friend to many and a passionate educator.

A prolific historian, Ken penned a book on Port Jefferson photographer Arthur S. Greene and numerous local history articles.

He curated over fifty local history exhibits at the Port Jefferson Village Center and managed the Port Jefferson Digital Archive. Ken also made significant contributions to visual and audio media, including appearances on television and NPR.

In addition to these, Ken served in several leadership roles, including as the Port Jefferson Village Historian and President of the Port Jefferson Harbor Conservancy. His dedication earned him several awards, including the Man of the Year Award in Civics in 2007 and the People of the Year Award in 2013 from the Port Times Record.

Ken also dedicated 33 years to the Sachem School district, teaching history and serving in key administrative roles. He retired as the chairperson of the High School's Social Studies Department.

A beautiful graveside service for Ken was attended by many at the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Port Jefferson, NY.
